One of the oldest church's in the world. Belongs to the Coptic church of Egypt the seat St. Mark. The church is built on the top of older roman temple pillars.
This is one of many churches in old Cairo. It's worth visiting just for the sake of the architecture, if nothing else. Beautiful church built over water channels, which can be seen from openings in the floor, hence the name 'hanging church'.

Wow. I was really taken back by the beauty of this place. When people talk about Cairo, it is all about the pyramids but this place is very much worth a visit. The designed interior and wooden doors and walls, beautiful.
Entrance courtyard is extremely inviting and holds tons of history concerning the Flight to Egypt of the Holy Family. Church itself is very interesting with beautifully designed interior and inlayed wood doors and walls. Also, areas where you can see through to the covered fort below are quite interesting and unique feature to this particular site...hence the name "hanging church".
Peaceful Place, the inside is amazing I took tons of pictures. My tour guide gave me a great insight about the church, the pictures outdoors in the walls, were beautiful!
The church is worth a visit especially as part of old or Coptic Cairo but do not expect some miracle of suspension. The interior of the church is interesting but needs the whole area to be visited to make it worthwhile.
