On Lantau Island is a large Buddha. You can go by cable car. This was very cool. When you reach the top, you have to walk a bit. Then you see the huge standing Buddha. This is very nice. You can make beautiful photos of it.

Other than the airport, not strictly on Lantau but Ckek Lap Kok island, we made two trips to Lantau, Disney and the fantastic Skyrail, the longest cable car in the world, to the Big Buddha. Take the MRT to Tung Chung on Lantau and make the short walk on the covered raised walkway to the Skyrail station. It seems quite... More

If you go to HK especially with kids, do plan a trip to lantau island. The cable car ride was great fun and the view from the top with the Buddha statue was breathtaking

The ferry over to Lantau is very nice and highly recommended! Took around 1 hour. The Biddha is awesome and well worth a visit, and the little village is very nice. The Crystal Cabin down is such a cool experience as well!

if you want to go here, please go early in the morning before 4.30pm. I love taking the bus up rather than the cable car

Great day out, easy to get to the Cable Station by train. Don't be fooled and buy tickets from the skalpers at the bottom of the stairs, wait until you get to the top and there is a ticket office up there. We bought the Sky-Land-Sea day pass, which included a boat trip visiting the Tai O still houses. The... More

Apart from large crowds on our day [Saturday] creating long lines for cable car it was a brilliant value for money event. Personally don't like heights but soon forgot on seeing best views of area, scenery and Buddha.

Caught the 25 minute cable car (Aus $200 up to the stop . The whole top was covered in fog and gave it a wintery ski country feel. lots of shops and eateries lined the paved path to the Buddha. be prepared for steep step climb up to the top. The buddha is huge and the surrounding statues are beautiful.... More

A must see. Reach in the morning itself at 10am to avoid crowds. We had booked a mini bus but you can take an MRT too. . Take the cable car and go for the crystal cabin cable car, the extra money is worth it. Go straight to the big Buddha. You need to climb 260steps to reach it but... More

Lantau Island is the home of the airport, apartments, a fishing village and the great Bhudda. You can get to the Bhudda by boat and bus (Lantau Ferry and Bus 2 at the Ferry stop, about an hour) or on the underground and cable car, less time but not sure how long. The giant Bhudda is venerated by many at... More
