Such a shame to see it go as it is one of the very few "original" places left in Singapore. I lived in Changi in the 50s and there is not a lot still recognisable from that era - except the house I lived in. That's still there. Not a high rise yet!!

Worth visiting to see the lovely burial grounds in Singapore. Some are very old, and some and some are new. Take your camera and get some lovely photos. Watch out for the monkeys!

Singapores ancestors resting in peace for decades have to make way for a highway. In the process we will loose a beautiful piece of woodland for ever. Visit it and capture the images before the woods vanish!

Parts of Bukit Brown are set to be redeveloped into roads and housing, so visit it while you can. This is the oldest Chinese cemetery in Singapore and it is fascinating to look at the graves, some of which are over a hundred years old. The area is also rich in biodiversity and popular with bird spotters.

This has amazing history. And it is also known as a birder's paradise. Be sure to go with someone who knows Singapore history. And make sure you go before they build the road that will go right through it. I heard it will still be here, but not the same.

The cemetery is peaceful and melts with a rich and wild vegetation. Some graves have not been taken care of for a long time, and it gives the cemetery a peculiar yet interesting aspect and atmosphere. What is interesting to consider is, on the symbolical part, the Materialistic winning over the Spiritual: the government is currently urging Singaporeans to claim... More

If you have seen all the sights of Singapore and want to see a different side, - head out to Bukit Brown before it is divided by a new freeway. A real insight into the old spiritual ways of Singapore and if you are into photography something that most people don't think of shooting whilst visiting singapore

Who would have thought that a cemetery would become a place-of-interest in Singapore? Bukit Brown is one of the largest Chinese cemetery outside of China. Surrounded by lush greenery, and water catchment area, if not for the tombstones, Bukit Brown can be any nature park! Try to spot the various birds, jog along the rustic track, and if you are... It doesn't happen often that I fall in love with a cemetery. It's the lush hills, aged tombstones scattered around them. The impressive sculpture works, think Sikh guards, seductive angels (those in particular are on the list to be destroyed soon), relief tombs of classic Chinese tales and wild art deco patterns. It's the craftmanship, the colourful tiles on tombs,... More

I read an article just recently & decided to visit the place on my own. It was lovely to see families with little children cleaning up the tombs & paying respects to their loved ones. So peaceful, so untouched & I hope it remains untouched! Start a campaign on cycling instead of building more expressways. The true character of a... More
