We had such a wonderful afternoon with Emi. She has excellent teaching skills - clear explanations, simple demonstrations and then patient guidance as we tried the recipes for ourselves. We have done a number of cooking courses in Europe and Sth East Asia and they were all very good but some were complicated, time consuming recipes. Emi's recipes used simple... More

Emi was great, fantastic host and so very polite! The three of us that went had a great time and learned a lot about Japanese cooking. Emi shared with us some of her family recipes and also some of the family's Saki. It was great fun and definitely worth the bus ride out!

Emi was a very patient teacher and excellent when explaining the various of steps, ingredients, and preparation techniques. This is a fabulous cultural experience that's not to be missed if you have at least half a day of free time! We had such a great time, learnt a lot, and the food was fantastic.

We opted for the sushi cooking class. Emi giving the class is a lovely woman with a very educated English so no risk at getting lost in translation. Having attended the Haru cooking class a couple of days earlier, I conclude that both experiences are very good, but completely different, just as Taro and Emi are different persons. Emi's sushi... I found Emi through my Rough Guide: Japan and wanted to learn how to cook homestyle vegetarian Japanese dishes like shira-ae (spinach with sesame tofu dressing) and dashimaki (rolled omelette). She is more than willing to focus on particular types of dishes (vegan/vegetarian, sushi, Japanese sweets) that you may be interested in; just be sure to give enough advance notice... More

I've done many cooking classes but this was the most personal. We spent three hours in the home of teacher Emi with a small class size of three. We did a number of small dishes including sushi, grilled fish, prawn salad and more based on seasonal foods. Emi is a really friendly, outgoing cook and I felt at home in... More

Kyoto is the highlight of Japan, and Emi’s class is the highlight of Kyoto! We learned from her how delicious can be Japanese homemade cooking, and how easy it to cook it. We spent a wonderful afternoon and evening with her. Dalit & Erez Israel
