It's a nice day out. Not too big; can be done in 4 hours-ish? We enjoyed it in May. Looking forward to a Christmas visit. Went with my wife.
House and gardens are beautiful. The Christmas decorations were breath-taking. There were knowledgeable tour guides who gave great insight to the lives of those that lived there.
The mansion and gardens are beautiful, but my favorites are the events they host there. The Ohio Shakespeare festival is what we look forward to every summer, and the Murder Mystery in the fall is like a live version of the game clue!! Its so fun!
One of the finest examples of Tudor Revival architecture in the country, Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens is a testament to the Industrial Age wealth acquired in the early days of the 20th century. The detail and craftsmanship in the house are phenomenal. 65,000 square feet of unique beauty in the heart of Akron, Ohio. If you do nothing else... More
Our family have been visiting Stan Hywet for the past 5 years to see the Christmas lights, and it just keeps getting better. This is a first-class operation. The lights in the garden alone are worth the visit, but seeing the mansion decorated is a must-see! Just make sure and walk down Oak Alley.
My wife and I love to visit the homes and estates of the people who helped shape the world we live in today – Stan Hywet is near by to where we live and work and we are frequent visitors to this Midwest estate of the Sieberlings. The tour of the mansion is worthwhile and informative but photos are prohibited.... More
This is on par with many of the fine homes, estates, castles anywhere in the States. Take a guided tour or if you are visiting at the holidays don't miss the house decorated for the holiday or any of the special events.
One of the great estates of our country. Touring the extensive gardens could be an event in itself. Touring the mansion (a guided tour) will allow you to see the life of one of the Rubber Barons. This definitely is a place to visit in Akron.
We planned an autumn trip to Ohio thinking that we'd explore Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Well, the squabbling in Washington that produced the 2013 government shutdown forced us to find other things to do. We're glad we decided to visit Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens and found it to be the most interesting attraction of its type we've ever experienced.... More
Great place to visit if you are in the area. No photography is allowed inside the mansion, but there are plenty of things outside worth photographing. Free on-site parking. Wonderful all around experience.
