This is a fantastic lesson in the history of Texas just to walk around and view the memorials to the heroes of the great state of Texas.

This cemetery is more like a park. It was well kept and cared for. It was very tranquil. I witnessed many people relaxing on the grounds. A must see in Austin!
A good historical place to visit. Beautiful landscape with lots of trees. Very clean and well maintained.
Visited the cemetery on July 4, 2011 and found it to be absolutely beautiful. Several memorials throughout - 9/11, Veterans, etc. Was easy to walk the entire area and used the map that was available to identify areas of interest. I would like to give a counter-review to the person who wrote the above (or below) review. The Texas State Cemetery has been a spectacular cemetery to visit since the renovation in 1994. Granted, the neighborhood around the cemetery isn't the greatest, but it isn't the worst either. There is a full-time grounds crew, a research staff and beautiful scenery... More
We went to Texas State Cemetery and it was full of litter and dirty needles and drug pushers and stuff. Some of the graves were nice but most were broken and in a bad state of repAir. don't bother going , it's rubbish.
