Beautiful, quite temple. The architecture is stunning, and the carvings are very well preserved. Suggest you take a guide. Closer to evening is better - around 4.30 PM. dont take you children, very boring for them,around 40kms from mysore.Near a place called Bannur lies this ancient temple of Vishnu which was constructed by Hoysala kings in 1268AD,fully ruined but great work in stone and full of carvings and each carvings has a story to tell.There is one guide by name Mr Kumar who will tell you the story... Great Hoysala style temple built in 1268 AD. If you love history, temples, carvings, architecture, this is a must visit for you. Well worth a visit. We went by tuk tuk from Mysore. The carvings and architecture are mostly in pristine condition and amazing. You should also visit the little shop outside which sells some wonderful pieces. We didn't buy anything because we had a lot more travelling to do but they seemed excellent value even without negotiating.

Has a lot of History attached to it with all the beautiful Architecture .The only sad part is visitors cannot keep such places clean.

A must visit for heritage lovers, it's still virgin and untouched, just the way it should be. Stunning and very fine temple.
