This is certainly worth the effort visiting. It is located in a small village beside an old temple. While a lot of work needs to be done to make it more tourist friendly, the character of the place is wonderful. Though the water is no longer useable, it gives an insight into the past.

Step wells were sources of water and, sometimes centers of theater and other performing arts. i was at this village with a friend from russia.. It was crazy that when it was my very first time i didn't even know about this place and this friend knew .. and we stayed at a villager's home, really amazing experience

Caution. You will need a taxi/rickshaw as none wait here for fares. Also, the monks here all want a tip/donation if you enter any of the many temples. Men and women bathe nude here, and ogling is not considered polite. The architecture is lovely, and the monkeys are cute.
