This palace is huge on top of a hill. Its so huge that you have elephants walking in the courtyard that is something unusual. Its kept very clean with trash cans placed every where.
When you approach the fort it is breathtaking ...The enormity of this building and the aesthetics of the elephants slowly walking up into the fort is worth seeing ..
The Amer fort is at a distance of around 11km form Jaipur and well connected by local public transport. Once you get past the incessantly insistent guides, you can start observing the various aspects of the fort. Apart from Hindi and English, audio guides are also available in a few foreign languages. It was a very handy tool in making... More

Make sure you go in the morning and get the elephant ride up to the top ( they go home after midday). You will also need a good tourist guide to make sense of the history.
This was amazing! We went by jeep rather than elephant which was a shame but the jeep ride was good. Our tour guide knew so much about the fort. The buildings and views were fantastic and I would say this is a must do place to visit in Jaipur.
I was apprehensive about going this far from Jaipur, almost 20km only to see a fort. But this was put to rest upon seeing it. The place is very very big and has an amazing history behind it. Take a guide and you will be fascinated.
This is one of the best forts which I've visited till date (and I've visited many). This fort is grand, spectacular, great piece of architecture and full of twists and turns. I'd also seen the light and sound show in night and it's was good. A good guide is must to fully explore this fort and I was lucky that... More

Elephant ride (only drop Rs.900/- per person) or Jeep (can negotiate around Rs. 200/- per round). We had guide which was very useful. Rs. 200 was the... More
