I entered College Street first time as a student in the Presidency College in 1975 and it was my second home for 3-4 years. I visited all cities in India but never found such a place which can be called the paradise of book lovers. The adjoining Hindu School, Sanskrit College, Hare School, Kolkata University, Kolkata Medical College have added... More

If you love books, there is no other place in the city, you would want to visit more. You will find almost any book you are looking for, while the naive booksellers shock you with their enormous knowledge of the authors. Bookworms will definitely enjoy.

We liked the bookshops area atmosphere, the Indian Coffee House vibrant with young students discussions, all colleges around and of course, as usually, the kind and warm Indians around

Probably you'll get every book you want and the asset is the old books corner. You are almost certain to find some renowned authors or litterateur here around. And Of course don't miss to go to the "Coffee House" ( not serving the coffee only) here for a brush with the intellectual circle.

Well have been waiting for ages to go to Kolkata and visit the 'Boi Para'. I loved the hustle bustle of the book lovers, students and vendors. Though mostly this street is for college and school books. One can find some rare books and good amount of old literature. One thing was pretty clear that everyone loves their city of... More
