It was fun to walk up and down at night, catching a gulf breeze and watching the fishermen. Didn't look like anybody was catching much that night. It will cost you about $19 for license and pier permit, plus rod, bait, etc. You can rent rod and bait at the store on the pier.

We went here based on reviews and were not disappointed. We saw a pelican just sitting on the pier side almost like he was waiting on someone to take a picture with him, which we all did. We saw someone catch a small shark which they have to cut loose by law and saw a bunch of manta rays. It... More

Cool place to watch all the fishing going on and the beach! There is a small fee but it is worth it. Good place for kids.

We took our children (13, 9, 7, & 4) to the pier in the late afternoon. We were able to get permit and bait on site. Because they have never fished much, I thought that my children wouldn't have much luck...I was wrong. Nearly every time they dropped a hook on the water, they caught something. Many of the fish... new pier, wide with bathrooms half way also. Having to buy saltwater license and $8 day is a bit high. Lots of catches, just not by me. Friendly strangers.

Took the kids out fishing one afternoon at the pier. We stopped by the bait shop as I had to get an Alabama pier permit. The gentlemen inside was very helpful, took care of the permit then helped us with our fishing. I do lots of fishing back home, but not a lot of saltwater fishing. The gentlemen advised us... More

The pier is very nice - complete with bathrooms and snack and concession areas. The pier is fairly new - built after hurricane Ivan destroyed the old one. One time visit fee is $2 per person, but worth the trip. Very interesting to see the catch of the day! Including a few sharks!

We were here one day to sight see on the pier and the next day for the tour with the Gulf State Park interpreter. Both days were the highlight of our trip. We saw four black tipped sharks, a sea turtle, a speckled sea trout, a mackerel, and tons of other birds and fish. The tour with the park representative... More
