This is a great place to take small kids for the Knee High Naturalist programs in the summer or for the family to hike through flowery meadows and mossy woods. There are restrooms and a small gift shop. Naturalists lead walking and birding tours during the summer. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes and bring bug spray if it isn't... More

My wife is into plants so we chose to do the 2 pm walk with a staff naturalist. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the flowers, trees, wildlife and geology. The path itself is suitable for all ages and winds through meadows, skirts a bog, and tall trees. It was bright sunny day so the wildlife was bedded down but... More

The wildflowers were beautiful. They even give you a laminated sheet to take with you on the trails to identify the flowers. We had a picnic at the picnic table, surrounded by beautiful lupine, dwarf cottonwood, wild geraniums and much more. Very relaxing.

The trails are great and you see a lot of different flowers and wildlife. They had a lynx sighting several times but we did not see it. The people in charge seem to have such a passion for their job it is a pleasure!

The center has a small visitor's center staffed by wonderful and engaging volunteers. The nature walks are lovely and the plant and bird sights really nice for such a small preserve.

We went in June just when the Lupine and wild geraniums were blooming. Very very pretty and the fireweed will bloom in another few weeks. I think any time of the summer is great but the amount of fireweed plants foretells a beautiful mass of blooms.... We saw many kinds of birds from those in the forest like kinglets and... More

This was a real find. The trails are well marked and there is a good nature guide to al let you know about the p,ants. We even saw a porcupine.

This is one of our favorite trails in Homer. It is easy to access all year long. In winter it is better with snow shoes. Without it, we just don't of very far. My dog love this place, lots of exploring and discovering work for him last time we were here in March. Free in Winter. Small fee in Summer.... More
