God and see for yourself when it is open - great day out very clean and well kept. The information given is amazing - good few over teh suburbs.
The iron age settlements, natural indigeneous bush, wonderful birdlife and 'be careful of snakes' add up to an exciting morning walk right on the city's doorstep
This is a great place to visit to learn about nature in the heart of Jozi. Educational fun And great for the kids. Take the guided walk on a Sunday. The views over Jozi are fantastic from the top if the hill.
Lovey walk not very difficult and very interesting with iron ore deposits dating back thousands of years, it is only open one Sunday a month and you have to look at the info board on Beyers Nause to see which Sunday it is open on
There is a small amount of litter blowing around, but it is noticeable. The last i heard, there was a lose black mamba roaming between the Melville Koppies and Botanical Gardens next to the Melville Koppies.
Good scenery, with views of central Johannesburg and Melville and relaxing. Chance of encounter with masked weaver or guinea fowl. Some of the entrances are annoyingly closed at certain times of day for security reasons. I felt fine going alone, but there are recommendations against it. A bit rocky for running, but doable.
Ancient remains of iron ore mining.Pleasant hike and scenic view of Johannesburg
