We went on the Cypress Grove Trail first. Unbelievable views, gorgeous flora and fauna. The Monterey Cypress trees are lovely, as is the cool red/orange algae that grows on some of them. Perfect for the photographers. Some of the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen. The Cypress trail isn't handicap accessible, but they have two trails that are. Just as... More

Best park in the area...hands down. Trails are super scenic, and not too bad for the kiddos. Lots to see and do. A great place to spend an entire day enjoying nature at its best.

beautiful any time, either in misty weather or sunny. We loved walking around cliff edges on the paths. Parking is tight, we got there on a Sunday, couldn't get in until another car drove out.

I'm a photographer, and saw much of Point Lobos through my camera eyepiece - there's just so much beauty there! It was great too, that we were there while Plein Air Artists were set up at their easels. The officials (rangers?) were patient, pleasant and added to the experience in sharing their knowledge of the area and wildlife. We really... More

Visit this park to get unmatched scenery, and views from every angle. You can walk down to coves, you can see lagoons from up high or down low. Even with 3 small children we were able to navigate some of the trails. We asked the guard at the entrance where the best place to walk/pic nic with our crew would... More

The first stop in our trip to the Big Sur coast. A lot of wildlife to see including many birds, some deer, otters, seals and others. Comfortable roads and manageable size makes for a pleasing park. Nice tidal pools as well.

Beautiful views, seals, sea otters, wild flowers and great trails: this is what you come to the Monetary coast to experience, and at Point Lobos, you can do it all in one place. You can stay for an hour or bring a picnic and stay all day. If you don't want to pay the $10 parking fee, park on Rt.... More

My husband and I walked the Sea Lion Point Trail (1 mile RT) and ran the Cypress Grove Trail (1 mile RT). They were both strikingly different and very beautiful. I would highly recommend making the trip over to Point Lobos.

We loved the choice of short and long walks. (A map with interesting information comes with entry.) You can choose a walk through the wildflowers to see the honking sea lions, or through rocks and wind-swept trees on a peninsula with gorgeous views. There were people of all ages enjoying the beauty and fresh air the afternoon we "did" the... More

We lucked out on our timing; Nelson led a group of 8 of us around a 1-mile loop and pointed out many amazing plants and geological items.
