LOVE this beach and since our last visit they now have a short boardwalk out to a platform to watch the sunset for folks who can't traverse the beautiful thick sand. We parked at Lincoln and 7th figuring their would be no parking at the beach as it had been really crowded earlier in the day. Wrong on that account....there... More

I enjoy that beach for the beautiful view across to Point Lobos as well as the lagoon which forms at the river mouth in the spring and lasts until the winter storms bring enough rain for the river to keep it open. The lagoon is a great bird sanctuary. Watch for the rip tides tough, the beach is pretty steep.

An easy and breath-taking stop near the mission, downtown, or a drink at Eastwood's Mission Ranch. The river forms a tea-brown estuary for geese, pelican, egret, heron, ducks and gulls. It snakes into the surf between dunes of sand. Enormous waves pound the steep sand. Look one direction toward green hills and river, the other over the rough sea toward... More

As a SoCal native beaches are special to me. My wife and I recently visited Carmel State Beach which is in NorCal. There is nothing about this beach that isn't as special as any other. The water is gorgeous, and so is the sand. To the south you see a rocky point with water crashing against it, which paints a... More

There is an amazing walk you can do up above the beach that should not be missed! It is a bit hidden away but well worth it (and dog friendly) with sweeping panoramic views of the beaches. The path is part of the State park, but the entrance to it is a bit hidden. Access to the public path can... More

The beach at Carmel River is beautiful. You can do a lot of bird watching and that is a fun thing to do. During the right time of year, you can see whales migrating off the coastline pretty close by.

The Carmel River Beach, depending on the season, can have a great expanse of sand, and has a wonderful lagoon - perfect for bird watching. The beach itself, with its white sand is often littered with driftwood. The water is cold and, like many beaches in this area, has a strong undertow. There are rocks at the western end where... More
