The best part of the train ride is hanging out with other travelers on the outdoor cars, where they have basic bench seating. Mostly it was fun to stand at the rail and talk to other people, a few even from other countries. The scenery isn't the most phenomenal, but the moderator told the most interesting stories about the past...

Fun ride for train enthusiasts. Goes through some pretty wooded areas. However, I don't think the original skunk engine is being used but the same tracks and trip are.
Absolutely loved the Skunk Train. The train winds through the dense Redwood forest in a primevil atmosphere. You can't help but feel like you're traveling back in time when you take this ride. I would heartily reccomend the Skunk Train to anyone, especially people with children.

Liked trip but because of tunnel collapse only went 1/2 hour out and pushed back. Nice but disappointed by shortened trip. Oh well can't fight mother nature.
the ride gets a little long on the way back, but just relax and enjoy, IF you like rhododendrons, and you go in May and June, you will be real happy, there is lot to see, a lot of beautiful flowers, If you like steam trains your going to be very happy, A pleasant relaxing way to spend a day...

Fun to do and enjoyed the crews information although was a little sparse. Very scenic and nice lunch spot at the top. Worth doing but probable just once.
My wife and I took our young daughters on both the 4 hour roundtrip ride from Fort Bragg to Northspur and the all day ride to Willits. The all day is just too long for me but my wife liked the peacefulness of the Redwood forest. I think this is a must-do trip if you are visiting Fort Bragg for...

We had a fun time. It was kind of like turning back the clock while riding this old train through the redwoods. The stop at Northspur is more like a picnic area with food for sale by the locals. I wished we had brought our picnic basket. We had a skunk beer on the train and it was very good....
