I visit the Shores regularly. This is where I kayak, got certified to scuba, and bring visitors who want to see the caves. Great little shops and restaurants right there near the beach, a nice park, but be patient with parking... there isn't a lot of it. Also, be considerate of the residents in this area... you are in their... More

Went at night time and watched some surfers, was looking for sea lions but didn't see any unfortunately. There are bathrooms and showers to rinse off your feet before getting back into the car.

This was my family's favorite beach growing up. There's a grassy area if you don't want to be on the beach. For the kiddies, there's a playground with sand. Plenty of bathroom & showers are available. Quite secure too since there's a main lifeguard station situated centrally. It's also a good walking beach which you can easily make it to... More

Maybe my expectations were too high. The smell (from the seals) was so extreme I could not stay long otherwise, I would have been sick. Seriously, if you can't tolerate smells well, you may not want to visit. Parking is next to impossible in this area. Be prepared to pay for parking and then walk.

There is quite a lot of parking surrounding the La Jolla beach though it is still very hard to find a park due to its popularity. Very pretty area and great sweeping views. I spent a bit of time checking out the seals and the viewing area allows you to get pretty close to them. There are some really spectacular... More

I don't know if it about La Jolla, its just the whole package that makes me go time and again. Brought my friend for the first time and we both helped the economy very nicely.

What's wrong is the smell. It's unbearable at times. The view is gorgeous at sunset. Get something from Thai Spice and sit and eat it, if you can stand the smell...move around a bit, sometimes that helps.

beautiful beach, it can get crowded on the weekends but as can any beach in san diego on a nice sunny day, if you can't find parking i always recommend people to park within the houses and just walk to the beach. nice easy waves, and great bbq area or grassy area, playground & firepits.

Hotels are a little overpriced in this location but the scenery is amazing. Parking can be a little difficult but once you are able to walk the shores you can spend hours just listening to the waves hit up against the rocks.

Combined this review with the one for La Jolla Cove. Not a far drive from San Diego, and traffic was never bad. We love this area - so different from being in the city.
