Nice 5 mile round trip well marked hike to a beautiful waterfall. Fern canyon is as its name suggests lots of ferns ,redwood trees and wild flowers along a pretty creek. Word of warning no outhouses or restrooms after parking lot. Last 7/10 of mile to falls a bit steep. and some areas have steps to go up because of... More

Just stayed at Russian gulch last weekend and it was a lot of fun. The campsite was #29. This space was pretty big and had lots of space for multiple tents. They have a camp host you can buy firewood from. The trails are fun but if you have dogs along, they can't go on these trails. Reservations go fast... More

Lovely scenery. Well marked hikes to see the Mendocino Coast and Redwood Forests. Be sure to take the little loop to see the Punchbowl. Longer hike to waterfall is well worth the time.

We took the long route up to the waterfall and back. Some of it is quite an incline (not for grandparents), but it's really worth it. So serene.

You can head out along the coast line, and have a great walk and watch boats, birds and whales ( in the right season). Or you can walk up into the woods along a creek that leads to a small but pretty waterfall. You can spend the full day there and do both walks and then eat your (brought in)... More

Plan to wear long pants to do the short hike to see the big sinkhole since the dirt trail is narrow and its hard not to brush up against some of the plants along the edge. Be sure to go beyond the sinkhole to see the beautiful coastline, but watch small kids since there are sheer cliffs along this trail.... More

All the locals and most of the whole county know of a walk that begins in Russian Gulch Park...you just ask for water fall trail...Within 100 yards of leaving the beautiful State Park, you fell as though you have left the coast far behind and enter a land of beautiful plants of many types beside a babbling brook that goes... Why do I love it? Gorgeous. The beach, with bridge overhead, view of the gulch and the pacific; the trails (particularly out to Devil's Punch Bowl), winding and enchanting; make this an incredible visit. The campgrounds are great, nestled in a canyon with lots of trees and berry brambles, two bathroom buildings, one with hot showers. The rangers are friendly,... More

An interesting if slightly monotonous walk through second growth timber. The coastal section is very scenic though.

The upper section has a couple of great vistas, and the lower is nice if you want to go in the water. Watch out for the narrow road, and enjoy the park!
