Cannery row is very touristy. Good for souvenir shopping. I really liked the hat shop full of knitted hats. The best thing about Cannery Row is the Monterey Aquarium. I did notice that the parking meters do take credit cards. There are both inexpensive and expensive restaurants here. Also, there's a small bike/walk lane that goes from Pacific Grove to... More

I rented a bike from Adventures by the Sea and they said to cycle this way for a while. It was good advice. You see the old buildings from the sardine canning factories - some sight!

One touristy shop after another, all selling the same cheap merchandise. The only salvaging factor is the Aquarium at the end of the street. Skip it and spend time at more interesting sites.

you cant help but walk through this area if you are at Monterey wharf, but don't get excited it's just boutiques, shops and restaurants. I was told there was a nice coffee/tea shop but when we got there it had shut at 3pm !

Cannery Row is for tourists. There are lots of restaurants and the usual sweatshirt/t-shirt, souvenir shops. If you enjoy that, Cannery Row is for you. The aquarium is right there (a must visit)....it's a good place to stop for an ice cream cone or a short walk after the aquarium.

Hoped to see at least one attraction that gave the history, but it was all "tourist trap" stuff. Clothing stores was nothing special.

This place was just ok. We walked it after being at the aquarium. Lots of tourist shops and restaurants. I felt it was mostly overpriced and you can get a better experience for the same stuff at the Fisherman's Wharf (although it's so close togther you could just do both).

You won't see any of the old sardine canning factories (the last one closed in 1973) but the site retains its old school charm. Lots of shops (touristic), a well known coffee chain (starting with an S and ending with tarbucks) and several ocean-view restaurants make this a nice site to spend a morning or an afternoon. There's a municipal... More

Most of the shops and restaurants cater to families. There are places for easy beach access where families can spend hours with their children. The place gets busy on weekends.

Definitely a tourist area. It was ok to visit and you could buy Monterey souvenirs on the cheap. There is also a spot where you can put your feet in the water.
