The Indian Canyons hiking trails just outside of Palm Springs are awesome for hiking and getting a sense of the historic nature of this area. We've hiked here several times. The parking is easy, the signs are clear, the trails are well-maintained. In the summer you have to bring plenty of water and come as early as possible in the... More

Andreas Canyon is a must-see. The hike is very easy, and the kids can splash in the oasis pools, while you enjoy the shade. I disliked the fact that you have to pay for each people in the car, instead of a single pass for the vehicle (like most national parks do.)

This Canyon is so beautiful. I would recommend going on off seasons (not spring break). The quieter it is the more beautiful it is. I did not like the crowds and the noise of other hikers. I have been here in off seasons and found it wonderful ...the wild life doesn't run away so much when its quieter. Be sure... More

at $9.00 per person we were a little skeptical about value for our money. we were so happy with the hike and the scenery after the first days hike, we returned the next day to do trails not covered the day before. as the indian rangers about where to find the best water flow when you go, and bring a... Palm Canyon is a glorious spot, an oasis with countless palms (filiferia Washingtonia), streams, ponds... just minutes outside Palm Springs. Beguiled by the shady path, we embarked boldly on our hike, map in hand, and chose a loop based on length of hike we wanted. In our case, this was about six miles. Our route took us from Palm Canyon... More

The desert hikes never cease to amaze me. From Palm Springs, the mountains look like big brown rocks, with nary a sign of life. But up close, there are wonders to behold! Murray Canyon was a short, easy hike, mostly following a stream. Andreas Canyon is a longer, more difficult hike, but it leads to the Seven Sisters waterfalls, which... More

We were pleased the 100 degree weather broke to a mere 80 and slightly overcast. We took the ranger-led tour at Palm Canyon. He was informative and entertaining, well versed on all the Indian Canyons and suggested other hiking trails agreeable to our ability levels. Great historical overview of the valley and canyons and Indian lore.

Gentle hike by larger stream, across the plateau. Lots of history, lots of areas (besides the hike) to explore. Indian artifacts (giant granite boulders used to grind grain, etc.) Have returned several times, so peaceful there.

We were looking for a hike that wouldn't be too hot for a baby in a backpack carrier & this was just right. The trail follows a stream & on the way back we stopped & played in the water.
