The Capitol offers free hour-long tours, which provide a nice overview of the building. The senate, assembly and old governor's office are also visited, as well as the rotunda. Nicely organized and presented.

The historic displays and the sense of what goes on today in our legislature are an exciting combination.
If in Sacramento you must go to the Capitol building. It is amazing and definitely worthy of checking out
We love being able to take our guests to California to visit! We love the setting and the accessibility! We love our town!

Take the free, one hour docent tour then spend some time on your own. Beautifully preserved, you can imagine what it must have been like to be there 100 years ago. I enjoyed the refresher history lesson. Don't leave without checking out all the portraits of previous governors and seeing both the house and senate chambers!
This is spectacular. One of the most beautiful buildings in the country. Other than a little problem to find a parking place, this is a site not to be missed. The docents are all very knowledgeable.
