This is where i go to the beach regularly. its nice and clean, there are guarded and unguarded beaches at the national seashore, there are places to surf and fish and bring your dogs too!

Assateague Island offers a serene and peaceful experience any time of the year! Be sure to reserve many hours to explore the island. The wild ponies are usually visible and don't seem to be bothered by the tourists.

This 60 mile island, in Virginia and Maryland, is very quiet and peaceful this time of the year. Of course, it is always beautiful. No vendors, restaurants, or tee shirt shops. Just the awesome sand and surf here.

I have now seen the island in all four seasons, and I love them all! If you're a horse lover, this island is a must. Beautiful trails, clean beach, and nice visitor centers.

The civilized part is that Assateague Island is easy to get to. You just drive across the bridge from Chincoteague Island and you enter another world, so near but so far from the things of man. We have been staying at Maddox Campground for many years & love it so much that I want to leave my camper there permanately. Everyone congregates at this beach in the summer especially on the weekends lots of locals come in. The beach is clean, very large, and dolphins can be seen frequently in season swimming by everytime we are there. !!

The views are amazing the trails are great for walking and for bikes. If you come to see the horses then be prepared that they are good at hiding!
