It's interesting, but beyond the Brazil gardens, it's just an average botanical garden. Not worth the admission price.
Great place to look at colorful plants and butterflies. They have electric scooters for people who can't walk the whole way around the property. Many acres of plants, vegetables, and flowers. Lots of butterflies both in the butterfly house and outside fluttering around. A great way to spend an hour to two.
A small, beautiful subtropical garden that appears to be relatively young. A new visitors center is being built. Floridian, Carribean, Brazilian, African, and Asian gardens are profiled. Friendly, informative staff (largely volunteer) and a nice gift shop with many live plants for sale. Children's Garden with butterfly habitat is exceptional.
I am new to Florida and this was one of the first places we went as we love to garden. We went on a Groupon deal around xmas time and still lots of blooms...so much to see ...this is a tropical botanical and has just everything. Would like to go again in spring when the plumerias bloom.
Start with the fact these are very fine gardens, add knowledgeable docents to help explain the different plant habitats and adaptations and this is a great destination for a whole family. Watch their website for concert announcements and go for a delightful concert in lush tropical gardens.
This was on my peak experiences for 2013 and I traveled to some fabulous places around the country and Europe. This is not only a must see, but must experience! Michelle Gorga Career & Personal Coach Author & Speaker Inspirational Artist CareerOptions.info TheCottageofDreams.com
I make an annual pilgrimage to the Botanical gardens....never get tired of the beauty and my out of town guests love it too. Plan on taking a leisurely stroll through the gardens, and perhaps having lunch in the garden.
The gardens are spectacular, native plants, Asian, Caribbean, Brazilian, etc. with water features, sculptures, a place for kids too. Even special day for artists and another you special pooch. You can even take in a concert or two. Snacks are available and a new visitor center and Cafe are under construction. Do not miss this special place.
If you are into plants and gardening, or just a relaxing afternoon walk through a beautifully tended garden, this is the place for you. There is a lovely area set aside for children to run and play, and also a really nice butterfly garden as well. Great place for an afternoon ramble.
