This island is gorgeous! It is like being on a private island! The sand is beautiful, the water is soooooo blue. Tons and tons of shells. We found sand dollars too. Pack a lunch or snack, bring a bucket and enjoy the natural beauty of Shell Island!

If you want to visit an island and feel like it's your very own private getaway, this is the place. It's as natural as it gets with beautiful water. However, don't expect to take away lots of perfect shells. When we went most of the shells were tiny and broken. But the beauty was well worth the trip. Highly recommend....

We did the state park shuttle which was a bit pricy for no longer than we stayed. Expect a walk through very soft powdery sand. Several people pack chairs, coolers, umbrellas, etc but do expect to have to carry it quite a distance.

Definitely worth the trip. Loved this beach. White sand, beautiful blue green water and away from all the hotels. Relaxed and had a picnic lunch-perfect day!
Capt. Anderson boat ride on the river and then on to Shell Island for an hour! What to do for an hour! Lie on the beach and take a little nap! Walk around the island and get some exercise Pick up a few shells. Time went very fast! Then on to see the DOLPHINS!
My grandchildren loved this experience, It was ok at best, might of been better if the weather was sunny. Children didn't get as many shells as they would of liked.
This is one of those things that you can do over and over, and it not get old. Even children appreciate the island feel!
Took the Shell Island shuttle over and the staff was very nice and accomodating. Arrived to the island and dont get me wrong it is very beautiful but we were under the impression there would be lots of shells (cause thats what everyone was saying) but there wasnt...if your not beach front it may be worth the trip but if...
