Excellent facility to run or hike. Summit of mtn are the indian seats or worn stone that overlooks the mtn vistas to the north
I find this a nice place to walk and the trail is not usually crowded. I have taken my grandchildren with me as it is not to long or strenuous for them and it helps to not only get some exercise but also enjoy nature. We live in Cumming so feel lucky to have so many parks and recreation areas... More
Great facility and personnel, highly recommend for anyone, especially families. Something for all ages to enjoy! Do not miss the view fro the Indian Seats, very impressive scenery!
There are two parking lots. One starts about half way up the mountain, the other (which includes the visitors center) is at the bottom. The view from the overlook is GREAT!
This park is really nice. Not at all crowded, but very well maintained. The trail was long and easy, and the hike was beautiful. Once you get to the top of the mountain the views are magnificent especially now with all the fall colors! There are no food facilities though, so take your own food and drink. They had a... More
This Preserve is surprisingly close to the North Atlanta communities. I'm use to driving 90+ minutes into the North Georgia mountains for some interesting hikes. The Indian Seats loop is roughly 4 miles and my 7 year old daughter easily hiked the trail. It is a 600 foot elevation change to the top of the mountain from the visitor center.... More
This is a very well maintained trail up Sawnee Mountain, with options for those who need an easier hike and for those who are ready for a tougher hike. We started up the loop from the bottom, where there is an information station with restrooms and trail maps, and a rocking chair porch. A little way up, the the trail... More
Well maintained park, with improved trails. It's not like being in the North Georgia Mountain wilderness, but it's in the Atlanta metro area. Makes for a great after work escape or a quick get away during the week-end. It's a good work-out uphill, but the views from the top are worth the effort. One negative, no doggies allowed.
