The Goodman theater produces a wide variety of plays that are entertaining and thought-provoking. I thoroughly enjoyed "Vera Stark" - the actors were hilarious in the first act and went on to portray different characters in the second act for a new atmosphere. Loved it!

We subscribe. We donate. We love it! Have seen some clunkers along the way, but have also seen some of the best ever. Even the free workshops and readings are first class.

The Goodman has season tickets too, but I have only attended select plays. The old Goodman theater used to be closer to the train tracks, and I have many memories of taking the South Shore train downtown with my mom, aunt, and cousin. But the new Goodman is much nicer, and well designed, and presents a lot of excellent plays.... More

Measure for Measure is one of many great shows produced at the Goodman Theater Director Robert Falls has a very original take on one of Shakespeare's darkest plays.

We saw a Cuban production 'Pedro Paramo' and it was in Spanish- with subtitles. At no point in any of the ads did they advise of this. Not that it was a problem- but I'm just mentioning it. It fact, it was rather effective to feel the passion of the Cuban performers- it was a really good show and quite... More

Came here to see Measure for Measure (a bawdy though sometimes solemn morality play set in Vienna), this presentation being set in 1980's NYC. The acting was great and they made the characters their own and adapted them for the time period theme. The costumes were perfect, and the staging smoothly transformed between the filth of Times Square and the... More

The productions are uneven in quality. Not always acceptable for younger audience members. Sometimes unexpectedly faced with nudity on the stage.

I love the various performances so much at the Goodman that several years ago I because a volunteer usher. I encourage anyone visiting Chicago to take in a play there because I have never gone to one that I didn't enjoy. Anyone moving to Chicago and want to meet new people, if you have a love of the arts volunteer.

Great shows, great performers. If you enjoy the arts, give the Goodman a chance and go see a show. The only thing stopping me from rating this excellent is that I had attended a performance that was filled with stand ins. I know, I am being picky but when you put out for show tickets, you expect the best....especially at... More
