Here Wright developed a new American architecture: the Prairie style. Filled with original furnishings, the Home and Studio demonstrates Wright's passion for controlling all aspects of his structures, including interior design and decorative arts. To go with reading "Loving Frank" by Nancy Horan, my Book Club decided to travel to Chicago and visit the place where the book was Set. The FLW Home and Studio offers a Book Club tour which allowed us to have some private time in the house with our guide and a chance to talk not only architecutre but also... More

This is an incredible museum to visit if you are a Frank Lloyd Wright's admirer. It's where Wright had his first studio and where he raised his children. Many of the homes he designed are within a one mile radius so be sure to spend the extra $7 for a house tour that takes about an hour. The homes are... More

I love architecture, so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to visit the FLW home and studio while I was in the Chicago area. I'm so glad I made the time to do the tour. Not only did we get a history and background on FLW and his architectural style and how it was shaped through the years, but we... More

Took the trek to Oak Park and what a wonderful experience it was. Our docent was knowledgable and enlightened our tour. I know a good deal about architecture and FLW but learned so much about him, his family, the home and studio. It was a beautiful spring day so we enjoyed the walking tour though it got a little long... More

This is a popular tour, especially on weekends, so make sure to buy tickets in advance. The luxury of being able to take photos inside is an additional fee, so know that before going inside. We opted not to, but there is plenty to take pictures of so learn from our mistakes. This home is truly incredible, and is fascinating... More

Having driven all the way out in traffic, I was hoping for a little more, unfortunately I think the tour guide wasn't the greatest. Nothing special just memorised text. House is inserting but it's great if you know a little about it before going to see it! There is a walking audio tour as well you can walk around the... More

My husband and I took the red line to Oak Ridge and fell in love with the small little town. We really enjoyed the Wright home and the docent providing the tour really made it great. AMAZING home and I highly recommend this tour to anyone who is a Wright fan. Seeing his home is just an amazing experience. It's... More

I've been here at least a half-dozen times and always find something new to learn and/or understand about the architecture and FLW himself. Be advised that because of his fame, you'll probably assume this to be some huge building on a great estate. It's not. It's a rather small house on a residential street. But it is worth it to...
