Well I must say this is not the first time that I have visited this outstanding park. If you are into outdoor activity, i.e. walking, biking, exploring, taking in a little education, then this is the place. You can literally spend countless hours and days here and never be saddened. This is also the final resting place of the father...

Went there the first time looking for the mine and was surprised there isn't one. But the hiking is easy, the sites are beautiful. Your kids will have so much fun running the trails, and looking at the Mississippi river. A beautiful place for a picnic too. Wonderful all year long. Definately it's a great place to explore and hike.
A very large recreation area , beautiful scenery. Can't wait to go back and take bicycles. The lookout is awe inspiring, would love to paddle through the backwaters someday.
If you enjoy hiking/walking in beautiful settings, then you really need to visit Mines of Spain. There are short walks and longer hikes, the Julien Dubuque monument, nice picnic grounds, a great nature center, etc. You can choose to do flat hikes or hilly hikes.
Trails, amazing interpretive center, forests, the river, views, birdwatching. My absolute favorite thing in Dubuque besides the Fenelon Elevator.
Love this "hidden" gem! Great hiking/walking/biking paths with great scenic views of the mississippi and tristate area! Always my go to in the summer!
A wonderful place for a hike, you could spend a great part of the day there, also access for kayaking.
This is a great place to go hiking. It feels like you have been transported to another place. I have only visited in the summer months but enjoy it very much. Very peaceful and a beautiful view of the river from Jullian Dubuque's monument.
Lots of trails to hike and places to see. Just be careful going during the hot and humid times because they have mega mosquitoes with all of the all of the trees around.
