Lovely, though a somewhat tougher climb than we expected! Very vertical for the upper 2/3rds but wow! It was fun, challenging, and gorgeous in the fall. A little busy on weekends-- not too bad on the trail, but parking filled up at the trailhead.
My wife and I visited Bethel last fall and discovered this beautiful park. We had originally intended to stay and explore mostly in New Hampshire, but were very glad we chose Maine instead. We couldn't do much hiking, as everything was covered in ice and we didn't have proper equipment, but the Bethel Chamber of Commerce directed us to a few flat sites that were easily accessible and just gorgeous: Screw Auger Falls Gorge, Mother Walker Falls Gorge, and Moose Cave Gorge.
Scenic drive. Stopped and visited Screw Auger Falls. Good photo opportunities. Good pegmatite geology exposed in stream bedrock.

We did not dislike anything.The natural beauty of the park was outstanding .The waterfalls and rocky streams were easily accessible and proving many excellent pictures to remember for a lifetime.
