Not a bad seat in the house and they serve adult refreshments at shows. Saw Carolina Chocolate Drops and loved everything.

The Strand Theater was built in the 1920s and restored spectacularly about a decade ago. It is an art house movie theater that brings films to the Rockland area that the local multiplex doesn't. It has HD broadcasts of the Metropolitan Opera and the stages of London as well as live musical acts, lectures and community events like the Super... More

The Strand Theater is absolutely the best small theater anywhere. They bring in first rate films and entertainment. Truly this theater does it all. I have seen films there that don't play in larger cities until weeks later, attended wonderful concerts, and heard notable people speak. On First Fridays in the summer they bring in bands to play in the... More

We went to see Angelique Kidjo and had such a great time! Nice selection of goodies at the concession stand, and the place is so clean! The acoustics were good, as well as the sight-lines.Can't wait to go back for another show.

The folks who had the foresight preserve this gemstone should be sainted. Its a memorable place to watch any of the rich variety of entertainment delivered at the Strand. Makes even the mundane feel like a special experience.

Whether it broadcasts of the Met or a live musical show this is a wonderful place. Have seen Hitchcock, Charlie is my Darling (about the Rolling Stones in Ireland in 1965) and Hyde Park the Hudson just this month. Way Cool and wine and beer sometimes.

We enjoy a variety of venues in this location that has transformed itself over the years from the movie theater I attended as a child. We recently attended a Christmas sing along with the Sweetback Sisters and had a fabulous time. The seats are comfortable and I have not had a bad view yet from any of the seats whether... More

The Strand theatre in Rockland, ME is a well-preserved historic theatre. Seeing a new movie(and they mostly show more of a art-house, non-mainstream cinema) there surely adds to pleasure.

One of the best things to happen in Rockland...they do everything right except the darn cup holders & there could have been 3 inches more leg room in the seats. See the films that never get to the multi-plex...also opera and concerts.
