You must have caught Bill on an off day. I have been visiting that tasting room and inn (solo and with guests) for more than 10 years and he has always been the most gracious host. Even at off-premise events around the state of Michigan, Bill is considered to be one of the most pleasant ambassadors for the wine industry.... More

Over the last 8+ years of driving all sorts of clients around Traverse City, they always love Chateau Chantal and especially the "Wine Sheriff", Bill. I see first hand the impatient nature of most of your visitors...sadly they blame your staff for their own deficiencies. As Traverse City continues to receive national attention, I hope people visit for the chance... More

We get up to the Traverse City area about 3-4 times a year. The area is beautiful in every season. For the past 10 years we have never failed to visit our favorite place in northern Michigan, the Old Mission Peninsula and include our favorite winery, Chateau Chantal, in every visit. It is a magical experience to view the East... More

The tasting room has a bit of a corporate/fake feel to the whole thing. Quite a contrast to the gorgeous view outside. There was only one other couple at the tasting bar when we arrived, but we felt like the server didn't really have any time to talk about the wine (and it didn't seem like she knew much about... I'm so sorry to hear your experience with us was not to standard. We have been working through a difficult May, our transition time from slow to busy season with a new tasting program, new staff, and unexpected amounts of guests. The management team is entirely focused on this issue and are creating new and better ways to serve our... More

A recent trip to the wine tasting room at Chateau Chantal was an experience not to forget. Bill, who we later found out was the tasting room manager, provided the most bizzare experience I have ever had wine tasting. He was extremely intense from the beginning. My friend and I asked a couple of questions about the wine tasting list,... More

Thank you for your patience in our response. Our management team has been working on this issue, and would like to offer an apology on behalf of all of us. Bill has offered, in his own words, this letter: I regret, very much, being deemed responsible for anything less than an inspiring experience at Chateau Chantal. I clearly remember your... More

Great location with spectacular views from the tasting room! Excellent locally produced wines, and superb waitstaff in the tasting room...the wines are reasonably priced, and overall, a great tasting experience!!!

This high priced winery has a great view, but the customer service provided by those that talk with you about their wines is almost non-existent...they simply only care about pouring wines and getting you out of there....sad, very sad....we will not go back

This winery should not be missed, from the tasting room you can see the water on booths sides of the peninsula. The wine was good and we enjoyed a full glass with a cheese place in a cozy seating area.

My sister and I were looking for something to do while we were in the area and ended up taking the drive on to the Old Mission Lighthouse. We stopped a couple different wineries, but this was by far my favorite. It is so beautiful and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The views from the winery are spectacular.... More

This was one winery I could have bypassed on our tour. We walked into a crowded tasting room and found a spot at the bar. Immediately you can tell the tasting crowd was not a wine educated crowd as well as the inexperienced staff. We waited close to ten minutes to have anyone come to our attention. Once we selected... Our apologies for your very poor experience with us this past weekend. You are right, we were bombarded with tour busses that hadn't been planned all at once. This certainly doesn't excuse the slack treatment you received once at the bar. We appreciate your bringing this to our attention so we can provide the better training for our staff and... More
