I have been to Duluth dozens of times, but never took the time to visit the SS William. Always thought of it as a tourist trap. Wow, was I surprised, what a great, education tour. Kids loved the tour as well. Highly recommended.

this is a nice ship to tour and the staff is great. Some of the tour staff was on the ship when it ran the lake.
The tour itself that you take in the summer is great--really informative and interesting. But if you're in Duluth around Halloween, you HAVE to check out the Haunted Ship! It's put on by local actors and actresses, and it's sooo neat.
Another attraction that my grandchildren love to go. You really learn how life on an oar boat traveling the Great Lakes and Oceans is really like. I think it is a great learning experience for all. If you are handicapped, this is not the tour for you.
The tour guides do a great job of making you feel what life was like on an ore ship working the great lakes. The price of admission is worth the tour.
Again, if you have the time this is a ncie visit - again unique to the Great Lakes. If you have the time visit the whale back in Superior across from the Paterson hoyuse/Museum in Superior. Bot ships provide a wonderful history of Great Lakes shipping, especially in bringing iron ore to the city of Duluth and farther east to...

This is a very entertaining and informative tour of a Great Lakes Freighter. The boat itself was a flagship and a showpiece of its time, and therefore has rather interesting features. The boat is in excellent condition. Our tour guide, a former sailer who sailed for the company that ran this boat, was incredibly personable and entertained our group with...

went to tour the Irwin on oct 20th for the haunted ship. definitely not for small children or people with walking disabilities but we had a blast. if you like zombies who jump out at you in pitch dark rooms....and then politely direct you, it was fun.
Our group looked forward to this tour as we planned our vacation. It was well worth the planning and cost of the tour! Our tour guide was "Brian" who has experience on these types of vessels and provided a tremendous amount of information regarding this particular ship and personal experiences. We saw everything but the cavities which held the ore...

A tour needs more exciting items on show, as is it is quite boring, for adults and for the grown up kids. It is also overpriced.
