Don't miss the MIA if you love paintings and sculptures. I especially liked their collection of European art. You also can't beat the free admission!

This most recent visit was to see "The First Emperor's Legacy: China's Terracotta Warriors" exhibit, which was outstanding. I had only a limited knowledge of the Terracotta Warriors, and found the actual story horrifying and fascinating (one learns about what happens to the laborers who built the lavish, secret room where the Emperor was to be interned). I do have... More

We had a great experience here. Our teenaged daughter got lost in all the art and displays, right up her alley! There is so much to see, we ran out of time as we had other commitments. So we plan to go back again. It's amazing that it is free to tour. The building itself is amazing. Ask one of... More

As this was the #1 attraction according to Tripadvisor, plus the big snowstorm made being inside a good idea, we went here for our first stop in touring the Twin Cities. By the end of the day there was still more to see, so we decided to return if we had time. Fast forward 10 days. The blizzard is all... More

We go to the MIA quite often after children's theatre performances. We always enjoythe main collections and the special exhibits. This past weekend, we went to the Art in Bloom! Exhibit for the first time ever. We will definitely go back in future years. The flower arrangements paired with various art pieces were amazing. So much creativity and variety. We... More

It was a beautiful warm spring day here in Minneapolis, the Art In Bloom display seemed like a wonderful way to spend the afterenoon. It was a free exhibit, so why not? As an artist myself, the flower show did not have the WOW factor I was expecting. If they are looking for feedback, I would suggest they would be... More

Saw an Italian film festival presentation in the auditorium; too small for the crowd. The Art Institute has an excellent, world class permanent exhibit of Himalayan, especially Tibetan and Chinese art which are not to be missed

Take a couple hours and walk through a treasure trove of masterpieces. Donations accepted, but admission is free. It is one of the best in the US.

We all loved the Institute of Arts. Lots of "different" art to look at. Some truly amazing pieces. They had headsets for the kids to wear to get a child like perspective on some of the pieces.

And free!!! Huge. Great Asian and classic departments. Lots of really good, resonably priced, casual neighborhood restaurants within a block or 2.
