The Saint Louis Zoo is absolutely spectacular!! It is a wonderful zoo, one of the best I have ever visited.
When was the last time you visited a free zoo? Don't be fooled into thinking that because there is no charge that it's not worth your time. It's a very nice zoo.
The St Louis Zoo is in need of a major makeover. Although they are building a new sea lion exhibit, the zoo seems to remain the same visit after visit with little change. When we visited they appeared to be understaffed and what staff was working seemed to simply be going through the "motions".
Been to several zoos, this is the BEST. I live in St. Louis so I have been spoiled, went to other zoos and they all pale in comparison. Great animals, great events, great attractions. Can't say anything bad, and it's FREE! (Some attractions like the shows and feedings are a price.) Go to the WILD LIGHTS and BOO AT THE... More
It was 105 degrees and this zoo is huge and HILLY! BUY the safari pass so you can ride the train as much as you want, which with the heat we did to get around and to just cool off. The sea lion show was GREAT! got their early like another reviewer recommended and parked for free 3 blocks away!
The St. Louis Zoo is my favorite place to go in Missouri. One of the few free places left, a family can do the zoo for free if you don't mind walking and bring a back pack with drinks and snacks. It's one of the best zoos I've seen, second to San Diego's. They are always improving, adding new exhibits,... More
Our zoo is a prize. It is the one single best aspect of St. Louis for out of towners to visit.
It's not a bad zoo, don't get me wrong, but we had much higher expectations based on the reviews here. Not on par with the San Diego Zoo or any zoo of that caliber. For a day in St Louis it's not bad.
Ok, to tell the truth, we were a bit disappointed in the zoo except for the Stingrays at Caribbean Cove. It seemed on the day we visited there were many animals missing. Saw only one bear, one elephant, no seals, a few penguins, giraffs etc. Maybe they were on loan to other zoos? The zoo itself is nicely laid out... More
