We had visited Montana in 2011 but, unfortunately, a tight schedule meant we missed out on visiting the Museum of the Rockies. So, on our return to the US in 2012, we pencilled it in as part of our six-week drive holiday. However, after all the research - and glowing articles - we were more than a bit disappointed. First... I have to admit that I had higher expectations than I experienced at Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman. There really wasn't too much unique to this museum. There is a new planetarium, but it wasn't playing at the right time for us to attend. Lots of dinosaur stuff and it was hard to tell what was real (fossil wise)... More

There are so many thing inside this museum for young and old, especially dinosaur lovers. I took my 6 year old grandson and he loved it as did I. One of the things that I really enjoyed last summer while we were here was the little pioneer village off the side of the museum. There were people in the cabins... More

We have been to this museum many times before to marvel at the dinosaurs and fossils. We love them. However, this trip's focus was the show,"Aurora" about the Aurora Borealis, shown in the recently reopened planetarium. My suggestion is that you sit in the back. We sat in the middle and though the seats cradled our heads and were comfortable,... More

The Museum of the Rockies, located in Bozeman, MT, is a very special place. It is home to dinosaur exhibits of Smithsonian quality, a planetarium, a spacious area for traveling exhibits, an auditorium for guest speakers and special functions, and a delightful gift shop. Visitors are met outside the door by a replica of a full size t-rex and once... More

Nice varied exhibits, laser shows well done and planetarium very good, the flogging of dinosaur stuff is old and the museum should branch out a bit, but is largely tied to the university dinosaur group since Horner hoped that aspect. But, the other musuum exhibits are excellent.

Great place for a quick visit or spend all day. We are spoiled in Bozeman to have such a great institution in town.

Went in June 2010 with husband. The little boy came out in him when he saw the dinosaurs! It offers much more than fossils though. There's an exhibit of all the inventions from Leonardo DaVinci, homestead era items, etc. I am not a dinosaur person but truly loved how the museum was set up and I learned quite a bit... More

We live close to Tyrell dino museum, which is a big step above this, still OK especially for kids Displays were at times a bit institutional, with not much interactive displays

This museum is full of amazing fossils. I was expecting it to be a bit larger, but it was still great. Loved seeing the shows in the planetarium.
