We went here with our 3 kids (11,9,7) and had a great time. The day was really hot and we still managed to stay out there for 3 hours. Keep in mind that you drive up a hill to the parking spot and then it is quite a hike (10 mins) up to the fossil beds. Sunscreen, hats and water... More

Great and almost unique experience. A helpful and knowledgeable guide shows you where to get your rocks, what to look for, how to open them and tells you what the fossils are. Sounds a bit corny, but we all had a blast, and got to keep the fossils. It was like a never ending game of unwrapping presents. You would... More

We had fun going to this fossil bed. It wasn't that hard to find, and is open everyday in the summer (I believe). We didn't have to track anyone down, John, one of the owners was there and Dave, another owner, came later. They gave us a very interesting intro talk and helped us find fossils. McAbee Fossil Beds are located east of Cache Creek, British Columbia, Canada, near Kamloops. The land is owned by Dave Langevin. He is a great guy and seems to enjoy meeting people and helping them pull fossils out of his mountain. Reservations are required because Dave isn't out there all the time.
