I had no idea what to expect when my TO friends chose this place for a Sunday outing. I absolutely loved this place and think it is a fantastic place to visit. My understanding is this is one of the only museums in Canada exclusively dedicated to Canadian art! We arrived for the last day of a temporary exhibit of... More

I guess my title says pretty much all. This is a wonderful place - the surrounds are beautiful and the gallery itself is just perfect for what it does. It's display of the Group of Seven as well as Tom Thompson, it's demonstration of aboriginal artworks and it's stories about them are all fantastic. How wonderful,of the McMichaels to have... More

If you are at all into Canadian landscape artwork from the Group of Seven this is a must see collection. The size and depth of this collection makes the trip out to Klienburg worth it. We end up here probably once every 2 years and it never fails to impress.

Our friends and hosts from New Market Ontario took us to this museum with their 2 elementary age children and our 2 teens and one elementary age child. The venue and setting is really lovely. Our family was not familiar with the Group of Seven before this experience so I can't compare this collection with another museum. However, we all... More

First time visit with family including 2 kids 5 and 8. The museum introduced me to the Group of 7, which I enjoyed thoroughly. There were photos of the artists in the woods too which added to understanding. An exhibit of Cape Dorset art was great, showing another facet of Canadian art. The exhibit of modern art by First Nations... More

The McMichael Canadian Art Collection is situated in Kleinburg, 30km from downtown Toronto, in an exquisite, 100-acre wooded estate. The gallery is the former residence of the McMichaels - since extended to house more than a dozen exhibition rooms. The building, which is attractively and cleverly integrated into its setting, is worth visit in its own right. The estate offers... More

The McMichael's art collection isn't top ranked by international standards, the AGO in Toronto has arguably as good a collection of the "Group of Seven" (Canadian 20th century landscape artists). But the overall ambiance is wonderful, particularly in the summer and autumn, and the natural setting meshes well with the art itself. Worthy of the trip for tourists, particularly in... More

We visited the gallery with our grandchildren ages 9 & 6. They quite enjoyed it. The exhibit of indigenous art was very good. We would have liked to see more " Group of Seven" art. The setting of the gallery is beautiful.

A chance to view the work of a dedicated couple and the additions made since their death. Paintings well presented, staff friendly and helpful. Didn't have time to peruse the gardens and artwork therein.....that's for next time!

I love driving out here to get away from the craziness of the city. The grounds surrounding are perfect for a nice stroll (the sculpture garden and trails). The permanent collection is great and there is always something featured. Check their website to see whats going on before heading out there.
