Nice time to walk around, although I thought it would be larger. It is only roses after all, so I guess even though it is the largest, it can't be that large! Kind of a pain to get to via bus, we waited a while and had to trek down the hill, but it was really fun and pretty. Good... More

While we were there a bit early and many roses had not bloomed yet, several have. The gardens are laid out beautifully and are easily walkable. We got some gorgeous photos, even though it was raining! Take an umbrella, and you'll be fine. The landscaping was lovely, making this a peaceful and relaxing afternoon.

During the summer this place is a beautiful place to view Portland and check out the multitude of roses. The smells are amazing. I was here in Spring, Summer and Fall. The latest was the spring and while the roses were not out yet, the daffodils, tulips and trees were blooming. Definitely worth a trip. You can also explore the... More

The gardens were superb, beautifully laid out, superbly labelled , and incredibly healthy looking plants. Amazing hundreds of varieties and colours. Now is the time to visit as over the next few weeks they will all be in full bloom.

a bit of rain could have made us not go out to see the gardens. so glad that we did, we both had roses , growing up, and remembered alot of them. we are a couple of weeks early, but there were enough blooming to keep the "oh's and awe's" coming..outrageous and so glad that we went. the yellow roses... We heard this place is a must-see, but we were still kind of thinking "what's so exciting about a bunch of roses?" I'm so glad we decided to go anyways. It was so beautiful and peaceful, it's hard to believe you're in a major city. We spent nearly 3-4 hours walking around, taking pictures and stopping at the Japanese Garden... More

It's great that it is free. Getting there is easy. The beauty of the colors is speechless. Educational. I loved it. Going back for sure!

I visited the Rose Test Garden with my family on Mother's day. Frankly, I was underwhelmed. While the gardens have a vast array of roses, it appeared unkept. Families gathered with picnics and pizza which was distracting as there aren't designated picnic areas so flocks of folks sitting next to the stairs with food, drinks, plates, etc wasn't a good... This beautiful garden was just starting to bloom when we visited but it was still worth the trip to Washington Park. There are so many things to see here and on a clear day you can see Mt. Hood. We walked along the many paths and enjoyed the views and the peacefulness. From here you can take a train ride... More

The story behind this garden is amazing. Also, the grounds are cared for by volunteers. This is worth the trip since there is no other place like it in the world.
