While we were there a bit early and many roses had not bloomed yet, several have. The gardens are laid out beautifully and are easily walkable. We got some gorgeous photos, even though it was raining! Take an umbrella, and you'll be fine. The landscaping was lovely, making this a peaceful and relaxing afternoon.

During the summer this place is a beautiful place to view Portland and check out the multitude of roses. The smells are amazing. I was here in Spring, Summer and Fall. The gardens were superb, beautifully laid out, superbly labelled , and incredibly healthy looking plants. Amazing hundreds of varieties and colours. Now is the time to visit as over the next few weeks they will all be in full bloom.

I visited the Rose Test Garden with my family on Mother's day. Frankly, I was underwhelmed. While the gardens have a vast array of roses, it appeared unkept. This beautiful garden was just starting to bloom when we visited but it was still worth the trip to Washington Park. There are so many things to see here and on a clear day you can see Mt. Hood. We walked along the many paths and enjoyed the views and the peacefulness. From here you can take a train ride... More

The story behind this garden is amazing. Also, the grounds are cared for by volunteers. This is worth the trip since there is no other place like it in the world.
