The minute the sun comes out in May head to the Rhodeodendron Garden! OMG! If you want to see exploding color everywhere in pinks, purples, oranges, yellows, reds and every color in between, this is the place! The lovely paths, ponds, bridges and staircases give you lots of destinations for photo opportunities. Give yourself two hours to oooh and ahhh... More

A relatively small garden with great variety of wonderful specimens. Take your camera, especially if the flowers are in bloom. We were very lucky. It is very peaceful and quiet, so you can enjoy the garden and the fish and waterfowl even if there are few or no blossoms.

I went with in-laws in mid May. This was just a little past peak but everything except the really early Rhodies was still in bloom. This park is a great mix of flowers, trails, large firs, meadows, water and bridges. The only downside is that the flowers are only out for 6 weeks or so. Admission is charged during the... More

The flowers at the end of April were spectacular! Most people are there just to appreciate some quiet beauty. There were a few families with strollers but it isn't really a place for young children as there is not enough activity. Teens may also find it boring.

My husband suggested the Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden and the American Rhododendron Society Show and Sale as an activity to spend part of Mothers's Day while we were visiting our son in Portland and it turned out to be one of his better suggestions! We spend a lovely morning first perusing the plant sale which featured a wide variety of... More

You just can't beat Portland Parks and this is another winner. Beautiful rhododendron and azalea plants in full bloom right now. Free admission mid-week or before 10am. Free parking. Wonderful scenery. Definitely worth a visit if you haven't been.

I've been to this garden multiple times over the years and previously would've given it a five-star rating each and every time. So what ruined this beautiful treasure of a garden? For some reason they've started allowing people to bring their dogs! On previous visits, I've enjoyed the antics of the squirrels as they scampered across the path or approached... More

Visited in early May. Not everything was in bloom, but it was still beautiful. So many different varieties and colors. In general, the garden is wheelchair friendly with some areas that are rough spots. There are benches throughout the park so you can rest or just soak up the beauty. Pets are allowed too. They only take cash for the... More

Always a place to visit and walk around the grounds admiring the flowers, water and fowl. Mother's Day is the perfect time with all the blooms! Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

We were there early in the morning before most people would even think of arriving. The flowers were definitely in bloom and beautiful, colorful and a great variety to capture images! One of my best images of this trip was captured here.
