The Oregon Zoo has a nice layout and is constancy striving to improve the animals enclosures and enrichment.
Traveling from Australia we absolutely loved the Oregon zoo - it's so different from home and it was in a very beautiful setting. Only $10 a ticket and we had a ball - if you have a spare 4 hours or so definately check it out - even the tram to get there was a novelty in itself - I... More
The Oregon Zoo is a great place to take children and expose them to a variety of animals from around the world. There is also a section for Pacific Northwest animals. I know they are adding on but what I saw seemed small as zoos go. The animals seemed lethargic (maybe because it is winter?) and bored. The train was... More
As with much of Oregon, I am sure the Zoo is supposed to appear "natural." However, it is dismal. When the sun shines, it is better, but it is dark and, well, dark. Made my first visit in several years with a visiting friend and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, despite some rain (we enjoyed a glass of wine in the restaurant during the worst of the showers...good timing!). Although some exhibits still need upgrading and modernizing, the Oregon Zoo is working on it and making lots of improvements. And many areas are already completed... More
A well structured and user friendly zoo. The animals seemed content and not at all stressed. Very easy to navigate with different sections overlapping and grouped into geographical zones.
We went on a Saturday in October and it was a perfect day. The price was only $11.00 for adults and less for kids. The exhibits were active and we were able to spend 4 hours there and it was exhausting. We missed one section of the park with the birds and bears so we plan to do that next... More
I haven't been to many zoos in the area but I do know the Oregon Zoo is a great place to see some animals. I especially like all the special events the Zoo does like the Halloween and Christmas lights they do each year.
We were pleasantly surprised at how beautiful, well kept and clean this zoo is. It is not the biggest zoo but good for a 3 to 4 hour visit. We happened to visit the zoo on a perfect Autumn day during the week which was the best. Great weather, and no crowds , who could ask for more. You will... More
My wife and I love a good zoo. We visited the zoo on a rainy day and almost had the zoo to ourselves. We really enjoyed the interaction we had with the animals at the zoo. Because there were few people at the zoo we were able to get up close to quite a few animals that were trying to... More
