Nice beach for the area. Sometimes a little crowded. A very popular beach for locals & visitors, too.
Only $10 to park in the lot on weekdays...and the beach is huge and filled with soft, fine sand...easy to spread out and not feel like you are on top of someone else. The beach faces south...great for catching the rays even in the late afternoon. The water shelf has a gentle drop, allowing you to wade far out to... More
After reading all the bad reviews about Eastons beach and good reviews about Second beach, we decided to go to Second beach thinking/hoping there would be no seaweed in the water. Since this was my first trip to RI, I had no idea what this red seaweed was. I'm use to seaweed being in big clumps. Not this seaweed! It's... More
What a stunning beach! There are always lots of people there, and the water is usually clear. But watch out for seagulls when you are eating. There is a snack bar and pavilion along with portipotties in the parking lot, and bathrooms in the pavilion. My favorite beach.
If you go to Sachuest go to the second beach. The water is cleaner at the first beach and the waves are bigger, but there are a lot of surfers there. Go to the second beach. It is quiter and more spread out for you to relax. If there is red tide and you don't like it then just take... More
Sachuest Beach ( Second Beach,Middletown, RI) is one of the prettiest and cleanest beaches in RI. I have enjoyed going to this beach since I was a little girl back in the 50's and recently visited again with one of my sisters and was so delighted with the beautiful scenery, smooth sand, warm waters, and hardly any seaweed at all.... This area of the state has some awesome sandy beaches with decent parking.... A must visit and a great place to spend an afternoon or day
Wow. We go to a lot of beaches in New England but this was our first visit to this beach. It is our new favorite and we will be returning soon. Velvety soft sand, almost no seaweed, nice surf and the water was warm. Will be bringing my elderly mother next time. There is a walkway from the parking lot... More
Easy access and well run, this beach provides a small but adequate snack bar (with sandwiches, burgers and dogs), outdoor showers, and clean restrooms with changing stalls. The staff is friendly and helpful. The beach has soft sand and hte whole area is well kept. Can't beat it for $10 a car!
