This beach was beautiful! No crowds and a really cool lighthouse to climb. A true treasure of South Carolina.

this is a gem of a place. A beautiful beach, clean restrooms, a cool lighthouse to explore and great walking tours, but after march bring the bug spray as the mosquito's on the trails can be brutal

We stayed at the campground for two nights in May 2013, and enjoyed taking advantage of everything this park has to offer. The lighthouse area includes some of the original outbuildings, with interpretive signs. You can climb up to the top for $2. There's also parking here for beach access, which seemed pretty popular. (We didn't see the beach here... More

We visited in April and thought the park was beautiful. We climbed the lighthouse and had really great views from the top-- worth the few dollars to climb! The beach was pretty as well, although it wasn't warm enough for us yet, there were tons of people out enjoying a beach day (it was in high 60s when we went).... More

Beautiful river/marsh views in a perfectly preserved, all natural setting. Clean and just ideal for a picnic or wonderful day hike.

If you are visiting, this is a must see. Go during the week. The weekends that are sunny are filled with locals. Spectacular park.

The lighthouse was fun, but the beach was incredible! There are these old trees that have fallen all over and we walked all over them.

We spent an afternoon at Hunting Island State Park, one of the most beautiful beaches we have visited (and we live on Cape Cod). The beach has good facilities and access is on a windy room through an almost jungle-like atmosphere. Apparently the Vietnam war scenes in the movie Forrest Gump were filmed here. The large palmetto trees come right... More

I was visiting my son and his family in Beaufort, South Carolina and decided to go there one day. Hunting Island has a very nice beach which is enjoyable to stroll on and also dip your toes in the water. After spending time at the beach we went to the lighthouse which is quite impressive. It is quite tall and... More
