The shape of the buildings are very different. A bit like a castle. All white and clean from the outside. Our tour took us all around the grounds and into the building housing many interesting items.

Just happened to drive by and around and around. What a charming setting for a military college. Definitely worth the detour.
Famous campus, very cool to see in person. Not many tours drive through it. It would have been neat to see students as I was there during a break.
Have visited several times and would highly recommend to anyone visiting Charleston to take an hour and walk the grounds. The Chapel is awesome and the school is steeped in History. Friday afternoon parades are always great.
Just riding by the athletic field and barracks areas, you can feel the military presence here, in and around Charleston
The Citadel is a beautiful campus and steeped in tradition. The cadets were well groomed, impeccably dressed, and very polite. We visited some of the buildings on campus and later attended a Citadel baseball game in Riley Park. Wonderful day!
Decided to take a look at the Citadel after reading all about it in Pat Conroy's
books. We are not military people, but very respectful of all they do for our
country. This is where many start. We really enjoyed our walk around the lovely
campus and exciting to see the cadets moving about campus to attend classes;
all so...

We were so lucky. Arrived at The Citadel right after all the cadets got into formation for graduation practice on Wednesday, May 1st. Got wonderful video (with the music) of the practice - major highlight of our trip. It gave me goosebumps!
We saw the last parade of the season. It was excellent. It is a beautiful campus. There is a large bagpipe section in the band. It was very patriotic and impressive. I would have liked a guided tour to learn more about the history of the place.
Visit on Friday afternoon during the school year for a "Parade" - the weekly parade by all the cadets complete with bagpipes and all the ritual of the military corps.
