We went last year and loved it. Right on the beach. Lots of photo ops. My two kids loved it as well. That's saying a lot.

This was our first visit to the state park and we absolutely loved it! The tour of the Atalaya Castle was nice, the nature center was informative, and the beach was perfect! We would have stayed longer if it wasn't for the heat (103 degrees), but we had enough to keep us busy for the whole day. We would definitely...

Went here last week with my husband while on vacation in Cherry Grove (north of Myrtle Beach). Took us about 40 min to get there. Went mostly for photography opportunities, and there were many! Had we bothered to do any advance planning, we could've learned about several programs offered in the educational center (where we did end up having a...

The price to get in isn't too bad. We slowly drove through the marsh area to see the birds. On the way out a family on the walk way pointed out an alligator which was cool. It was extremely hot the day we visited so we didn't stay long. We walk through the house on the property. The courtyards are...

I knew i was at heaven on Earth when I arrived and saw a sign designating where leashed dogs should go on the beach. Not having to be bothered was great. Very secluded. Loved the marsh and alligators as we entered.
This really is a great park and my rating may be a tad low, but honestly one reason we come here is to fish the Jetties. The problem is that it is a serious hike. I would like to have easier access to them. Frankly I don't care about the bird habitat that I know others might. It is cool...

This is a lovely natural wide beach with dunes. Completely non-commercial! Wish we had brought our bikes as it looked like a good place for bicycling.
The beach was clean and beautiful! We usually camp at Myrtle Beach State Campground but chose this one instead because our poochie could go too! Most parks only allow dogs on the beach for certain hours. Huntington Beach does have parts that are restricted to your pets but a large section was pet friendly with your dog on a leash....

beach, especially if you camp. Also a bonus that you can easily visit Brookgreen Gardens in the morning, and Murrells Inlet for dinner and entertainment.
Beautiful and well-maintained park between Pawleys Island and Murrells Inlet. They offer lots of programs for all ages. We took a canoe/kayak trip through the marshes which was a lot of fun and very informative. There are hiking and biking trails that are well worth your time to check out.
