I really like the McClung Museum. There are always good things going on there: lectures, exhibits, cultural activities. Very nice indeed.
Well displayed and informative with a wide range of artifacts. Nice Civil War display about Knoxville. We were looking for something to do mid week and this was well worth the time.
Thanks so much for visiting! Hope we'll see you again soon! More
This museum is rich in the culture of East Tennessee. What is even better? There was no admission. We were pleased as punch with that! Find out about parking before you go though! That is what took us the longest.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review about your Museum visit. We always love hearing from our visitors, and we're happy you enjoyed your time at McClung. We have a new parking & directions page on our website that should help with any parking questions: http://mcclungmuseum.utk.edu/visit/parking/ Hope we see you again soon! More
Exhibits are very well displayed, curator Dr. Joan Markel has updated the Civil War artifact collection on display. The museum accepts donations, otherwise it is free. Only disappointment is tht it is not larger.
Enjoyed my visits here tremendously! Great exhibits with frequent new collections arriving. I have toured solo and brought my extended family. Always have a different experience. Recently they had the Birds in Art exhibit. It was Incredible! Free Admission, cannot be beat! Also, the museum is a perfect size to see everything and not lose interest with fatigue.
We are so happy that you enjoyed your visit to the McClung--thank you for your kind words! Hope that you return again in the near future. More
It was surprising how good the Egyptian section was for a museum that is mostly Tennessee in character. The fossils and Native American sections were great too. The parking booth is right at the beginning of the circle. Very impressive and free!
Thank you for the wonderful photo and the review! We're proud to offer a little slice of Egypt (along with local and world history) in East Tennessee at the McClung Museum. Hope that you'll return in the future. More
Location is on UT campus. Get parking pass at gate house. Some exhibits are permanent while others change. Handmade Quilt exhibit was very good, when in the museum. Museum would like a donation, but it isn't required.
We were very surprised at this place! We have been there many times and each time we are impressed with the displays! And the best is that it is "free"!!
Thank you very much for your review--we are proud to offer free admission to all. We hope that you'll return soon! More
Go if you get the chance but go on a weekend because parking during the school year is terrible. Free for students which I love but I always give a buck or two even though they keep raising tuition! I like the revolving exhibits and is a no brainer if you are looking for something to do in Knoxville
Thank you very much for your review and for visiting the McClung Museum--we're happy that you enjoyed your visit. We did want to let you know that the McClung Museum has free admission for all (not just students), and that free parking is available in front of the museum both during the week by stopping by the parking booth at... A highlight of the trip, this museum has several excellent permanent exhibits. When we were there a traveling exhibit with artists renditions of birds was spectacular! Let me mention that when you enter Tennessee University look for Volunteer (Blvd?) and a small kiosk that offers information. If you check in there you can get a parking pass that allows you... More
