this is not your traditional zoo. it's well laid out and the gorilla's and orangutangs are worth seeing. but I woudln't recommend going on a wet day (which I did) as you will probably spend more time in the coffee shop than viewing the animals. On a sunny day I suspect that the outdoor enclosures are well used by the... More

I have visited Durrell several times over the years since the mid 80s and always like to come back when on holiday in Jersey. I am not a fan of zoos but Durrell is a very different place, with conservation and preservation of endangered species foremost. There are a number of well publicised talks throughout the day which coincide with... More

Very good day out and highly recommended! Good for families with children with the wide variety of animals. More than just a zoo as you can see the hard work that has been put in to the park.

It's not a zoo it's a life's work. We saw the usual bears, reptiles, and monkeys but the orang-utans they were a bit special. The ring tail lemurs were darting around like circus acrobats and if you haven't been up close to a fruit bat - go take a look they're huge. Not big, about 4 hours including a bit... More

If you are going to Jersey and you have an interest in animals, the most rewarding visit must be to Jersey Zoo - brainchild of the late author and naturalist Gerald Durrell. Even if you hate zoos, chances are you'll like this one. Conservation is uppermost, with the aim of breeding endangered species and returning them to nature.

It was a really cold day so many of the animals were sensibly staying indoors. There is a good mix of animals to see but no longer any big cats which might be disappointing for some children. The reptile and amphibian house was more interesting than I thought it would be. Try playing 'spot-the-frog'! Some of them were unbelievably tiny.... More

my first visit and loved every moment, even the weather was kind and kept the rain to a minimum. We had a wonderful guide - John, he was informative and funny and obviously loves his role as a volunteer, long may he continue. After our visit we had a well deserved coffee and great big piece of banoffee pie, my... More

We visited the zoo on a cold spring day and many of the animals were huddled together making it difficult to find them. The zoo is well set out but for an entry fee of £13.50 you think they may have thrown in a map. With out a map we were still able to find our way around. Getting to... More
