We were looking for a spot for the family to hang out on the beach and this was a perfect area. We like to park close to the water and this fit the bill. You do
It's unfortunate that you have to pay to park & get onto almost any beach in Galveston. We paid $8 here. Thankfully it wasn't too busy because it was back to school time already. We found most of the offerings of bathrooms, showers, & food to be unmanned, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe it's... More
ive been to galveston in the past but never went to a beach here. i must say i was impressed at how nice it was. relatively free of trash, not as many people as i expected, umbrella rentals, mobile concession stands (snowcones mostly) walking distance to mc donalds, warm water and good sized waves. simply put, i had a blast.... We went to Galveston for spring break with the kids. I think I found out about Stewart beach on one of the TripAdvisor forums and so we ended up going there rather than staying along the seawall. We were pleasantly surprised by the beach! It was clean and the sand was nice. Not sure if it was natural or may... More
Pros: You are at the beach. The shore is deep so kids can go pretty far out and not worry about deep water. The water is not chilly and not too warm. The beach is kid friendly. Cons: $8.00 admission per car and $30 to rent an umbrella with two chairs. You have to arrive very early in the morning... More
Galveston reminded me a little of Cape May, NJ. It is really not a bad little city and far better than places like Santa Monica, Atlantic City, Ocean City ,MD and Virginia Beach, VA. Nice boulevards with palm trees, no huge hotels except for the historic ones, and lots of historic parks, mansions and features. Not your typical resort town.... More
The ocean was full of seaweed, kids hated it. And we were told to either take our cabana down or we would be escorted off of the beach. They kept calling it a tent and I argued that it wasn't. We were not allowed to have our $8 parking back. Altogether a VERY bad experience.
This place just will never get better !! People don't waste your time . Spend your money where they will appreciate your business !!
I like the convenience of this beach - easy to get to, convenient parking ($8), bathroom facilities, indoor and outdoor showers, snack bar, and gift shop. I like that there is a lifeguard on duty and the chair and umbrella rentals, although a bit pricy at $30, do make for an easy day at the beach. The snow cone vendor... More
My family and I had a blast. Beach was clean and was not crowded. We chose to go to the side that we could drive our personal vehicle on so the experience was more like a visit to Crystal Beach with out all the alcohol and rowdyness. This made it even more enjoyable for my little kids. I would go... More
