I am lucky enough to live here on Kauai and I get to lead folks to various spots on tour. Whenever I have a request for amazing vistas, beautiful flowers or just overall outstanding photo opportunities I take them to the Monastery. It is also amazingly peaceful. I take advantage of living nearby and visit on my own. Another tip:... More

Shame it wasn't finished. Just one of those things we did when we didn't have much else going on. The gardens are very pretty and look out onto a beautiful waterfall. Very peaceful. The banyan tree was cool. No entrance fee.

Would recommend you find time to take guided tour, which we didn't. This limited our experience, but it was a great one anyway. Had a very interesting conversation with a monk. Just talking with him gave me this feeling of peace and serenity. He explained a lot about Hinduism that I never knew.

......to all, but not from the mosquitos. This was a super place to visit and so unexpected. So peaceful. Clearly the Hindus are not strapped for cash. The design, manufacture and construction of the place must have cost a fortune - and work continues on another building. However do remember to take insect repellant, particularly on hot, humid days. Not... More

I so enjoy going up to the monastery for peaceful mediation in the morning. They have done a phenomenal job taking care of their beautiful land. Just a lovely, peaceful excursion.

If you plan to visit this, which is a good idea, ladies, dress with sleeves and long pants, or borrow one of their sarongs to cover. They will also ask the men to cover up. The place is open from 9 to 12, and if you book in advance, you will be the lucky ones to be allowed to visit... More

A beautiful and positive place to visit. Not the usual tourist thing. There was a private wedding blessing going on but it was possible to watch. Very interesting. Would love to go and get there in time for the puja. Next time!! Be sure to write down the name of the road it is on or you will never find... More

I liked the peacefulness and beauth of the place. Very serene energy. It felt very remote, though it's easily accessible from the main highway. It's only open from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Go in time for the 9 a.m. puja ceremony, and visit Wailua's beautiful double waterfall on the way back to the main highway.

This was our first visit to Kauai and we absolutely loved the Kauai Hindu temple. We went back and visited the place for after a few days to take the hour long tour of the temple complex. The temple complex has beautiful statues and amazing banyan trees all around.
