This was a fantastic experience - definitely the highlight of our trip to Maui and worth the long drive for sure. Our guides were great and very considerate of our son (10 years old) who was pretty nervous since this was his first time on a horse. It's really hard to describe what it's like when you get to the... More

This was my first time riding and needless to say I was a little nervous, okay really nervous. The guides were amazing in choosing our horses. Kona ( my horse) was perfect for me! On the way back to the stables I felt so comfortable I no longer had a death grip on the saddle or reins. Learning about the... More

Totally agree with all the stellar reviews. Well worth the long drive - really the only way to get to the back country on Maui. Keoni was great - incredible knowledge of both local history and the plants and animals in the area. Horses were extremely well trained. Have done a lot of horseback rides on different islands in Hawaii... More

First of all let me say that we own and ride our own horses here in Montana so we weren't looking for just a horseback ride.We wanted to see Maui's backcountry and thought horseback was the way to go. Some of the other reviews we read on line said Maui Stables was a "Cultural" experience. That it is! My wife... More

Without a doubt, the best day spent on the island. Riding lively, well trained horses up and down a mountain, through a rain forest, with a breathtaking view in between? It doesn't get any better than this. But wait, there's more...throw in two experienced Hawaiian cowboy guides, who regale you with the history of the island, the culture and the... More

My wife and I visited Maui stables on our honeymoon and we both loved it. We were staying at Napoli Bay and drove the recommended route to the stables (along the south) so it was a long drive but we stopped at Grandma’s Coffee House along the way for a tea and some breakfast which broke the journey up. It’s... More

I was absolutely amazed on this ride. Keoni and staff really take care of their horses. It's not just a job for them. I especially enjoyed learning about the Hawaiian culture and all the plants and wildlife from Keoni. Also, make sure you go over to the church down the road from the stables. We drove the back way up... More

So we saw the reviews on Tripadvisor and it seemed a no-brainer... we then saw the price ($150 per person) and heard about the drive (2.5 hrs from Wailea) on unpaved roads and rainforest, and were a little put off, especially given that the car rental companies do not insure you if you drive these roads. But we then realised... More

Keoni, your main guide, is compassionate, kind and an amazing human being. He educates you along the ride and illustrates the love he has for his home land and all of the culture in Hana. His 2 assistant guides are also wonderful people. He has incredible integrity as all of the horses are rescues that were unwanted and he has... More

We were staying in Kihei and drove The road to Hana which was absolutely breathtaking. The stables were just another 20 min. past Hana. These people were so nice. They had refreshments for us on arrival and after the ride. The scenery on the trail was beautiful and the information they taught us about the history and the use of... More
