Peaceful and relaxing place to go and enjoy taking photos, going for a walk, or feeding seagulls. Really enjoyed watching the boats coming in and the peaceful terrain. Would go again. Nice walking path that isn't strenuous. Definitely recommend.

Frenchmans Bay is a moderately large area along the west side of Mt Desert Island. Hard to rate as a unit, it offers a great opportunity to see this section of Mt Desert from the water. Sail on the four masted schooner, the Margaret Todd, rent kayaks or use other tour boats. Not highly expensive, there are many different tours... More

Absolutely gorgeous! We got some wonderful photos here. We thought it was lots of fun watching the huge cruise ships sail in (usually in the early morning) and then watching the Margarett Todd Sail Boat sail around. Definitely bring your camera!

Frenchman bay is located on the north to east side of Mt. Desert Island. The port of Bar Harbor is located here and the bay is quite large, extending well up and down the coast from the town. The porcupine islands and a few others dot the bay, with it's many smaller arms and coves. The best overall look of... More

We used to love to watch the Ferry come and go. Now it is cruise ships. We like to walk the "Bar" over to one of the Porcupine Islands during low tide.

We are now certified scuba divers and we love to sail on Frenchman's bay and we love to dive there as well...the giant pink rocks are surreal and watching lobsters in the native environment is so fun after eating them for 40 years
